I found the Tajweed Program with Al Firasa very beneficial. The course provided me with many tools to help advance my reading and understanding. We spent a substantial amount of time on the common issues for students and were also afforded the quality time to address our own individual areas for improvement. I had an enjoyable learning experience where I benefited from a skilled teacher who gave us much in the way of guidance and feedback. All students were involved comfortably, and the supportive atmosphere was useful for a shy and unconfident reader like me. Overall, I would recommend their programs for anyone wishing to seek Islamic knowledge.

Radia is a keenly intuitive educational leader. She quickly assesses gaps in educational programs and skillfully implements training and other system changes to address those gaps. I have observed her as she brought a diverse teaching staff together and fully engaged each faculty member in successfully reforming and improving a school. I would highly recommend her services!

Um Muhammad graciously and eloquently deals with complex Islamic issues in an easy to comprehend manner. Her experience in the area of pedagogy and Islamic learning is clearly demonstrated through her dynamic workshops and teaching style. A clear family-oriented approach, Um Muhammad’s sessions resonated strongly and deeply with attendees during her visit to Australia. She is an asset to the community, and provides calmness in a sometimes chaotic world.
I had the honour of meeting Um Muhammad and spending quality time with her in Tarim (Yemen). During that time abroad not only did she manage to win the hearts of many through her wisdom and compassion but she inspired many local women, particularly young illiterate mothers to seek knowledge. She created spaces and programs meeting their specific needs and advocated on their behalf whenever needed.

I found the Qaaida Teacher Training Workshop, though condensed into a short space of time, to be organised, well-presented and relevant. The course material was delivered clearly and concisely, and the instructor was easily understandable and approachable. Overall, I felt that it was a very positive learning experience that enriched and consolidated my knowledge of the subject, thus giving me the confidence to be able to teach it.

The Qaaida course has been very beneficial practising makharij and tajweed. The course allowed us to get into groups as well as read within the big group, practising allowing for correction from the teacher. I personally struggle with Ta and it was good to learn exactly where the tongue needs to be to ensure this letter comes out correctly.

Um Muhammad has been an integral part of the Senior Management team at Zayed College. Her role was to ensure that Islam was embodied in every aspect of school life and she did an amazing job at this. Students were aware of important calendar events throughout the Islamic year. Um Muhammad would enjoin them to ‘walk the talk’ by praying, fasting and improving their character and had buy-in from both staff and students. She motivated students through competitions, projects, art and drama. Her pedagogical practice of integrating Islamic knowledge into the broader curriculum is seamless and inspirational.

Al-Firasa Consultants were invaluable at providing professional development training for our small organisation. The expertise they were able to provide is hard to find in New Zealand. The quality was high and the response from participants positive. We would highly recommend their services to other organisations.

A Tajweed teacher myself, I had the honour of studying Tajweed under the tutelage of Um Muhammad. The depth and extent of her corrections, the discussions we had on various dimensions and subtleties of Tajweed, the guidance she gave on teaching the subject, and observing her manner and expertise in class settings were all testament to her proficiency not only in Tajweed but also as an Instructor. My classes with her were extremely beneficial, yet humbling, and I continue to implement all I have learned in my recitation and teaching. Um Muhammad holds a wealth of insight and knowledge and we are blessed to have access to a teacher of such calibre here in New Zealand.
